When to submit the claim and time of payment

The mobility allowance is paid as of the first of the month in which the person with limited mobility has submitted an application for medical examination by a Medical Committee, provided that he submitted the claim for the mobility allowance to the National Insurance Institute within two months since receiving notification of the Medical Committee's decision (or of the Medical Appeals Committee) regarding degree of mobility disability that has been determined for him.

If the person with limited mobility have submitted a claim for mobility allowance to the NII later than two months since receiving notification of the Medical Committee's decision (or of the Medical Appeals Committee), the allowance will be paid to him retroactively for the two months preceding the month in which the application was submitted to the NII. The mobility allowance is paid for the aforesaid periods of time, only if the person with limited mobility has continuously met, during all these periods of time, all conditions of entitlement to the allowance.
